From 26 to 28 September, Trieste will host the 14th edition of Trieste Next, the Festival of Scientific Research that every year transforms the city into a major stage for science.
This year’s edition, entitled “Life Within. Dialogues between Science and Technology”, will explore the relationship between science and society and the role of technology in reshaping our lives. Over three days, more than 100 events and hundreds of international speakers will guide the public through the scientific and technological challenges of our time.
On 27 September, from 10:00 to 11:15, TeRABIT will take centre stage at the conference “Supercomputing for Research”. By the end of 2025, the construction of the strategic infrastructure—funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and led by the two key initiatives TeRABIT – Terabit Network for Research and Academic Big Data in ITaly, and ICSC – National Research Centre in High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing—will be completed.
The session will offer an in-depth look at the progress achieved, the features of the new national cloud-based supercomputing infrastructure, and the opportunities opened up by this technological revolution, with a particular focus on the role of quantum computing, set to transform research and innovation.
Speakers:
- Silvia Calegari, INFN Infrastructure Manager for the TeRABIT project
- Massimo Carboni, Deputy Director and Chief Technical Officer, GARR
- Alessia D’Orazio, Research Manager, ICSC – National Research Centre in High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing
- Elisa Zuccolo, Senior Researcher, OGS
Panel chaired by Matteo Massicci, Communications Office, ICSC.
