TeRABIT at the inauguration of the CTLab4ET laboratory in Turin

22 April 2025

On Monday 14 April, the inauguration of the CTLab4ET laboratory and the enhancement of the Scientific Computing Centre of the INFN Turin section took place at the Department of Physics of the University of Turin. These initiatives were funded through the PNRR projects TeRABIT, ETIC and ICSC.

Representing the TeRABIT project was Mauro Campanella, who gave a talk dedicated to the project and the synergies with ETIC and ICSC. The event also featured contributions from Marco Maggiora, Director of the INFN Turin section, Michele Punturo, Scientific Coordinator of the ETIC project and International Lead of the Einstein Telescope, and Stefano Bagnasco, Head of the INFN Turin Computing Centre and of the CTLab4ET laboratory.

TeRABIT and ICSC are among the projects that enabled the enhancement of the Turin Computing Centre. The former aims to create an integrated high-performance computing and networking infrastructure, leveraging cutting-edge optical fibre technologies to enable data exchange at terabit speed (1,000 billion bits per second). ICSC – the National Research Centre in HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing – focuses on developing a new national digital infrastructure, offering advanced tools and applications for scientific research and in support of the industrial and social systems. One of the beneficiaries of this new high-performance network is also the Sos Enattos site, a candidate to host the Einstein Telescope.
